lmcuak Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Hi as part of our ever expanding trust i have been tasked with renewing the library systems in one of the primary schools From an it point of view IT was Doa lol. But i have the hdd which seems to have a db on it from 2010 But im struggling to find Login information / ect or whom to contact as the ex Librarian Retired any one else had to deal with this software ?
steveg Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Don't do it! The hosted one was awful and we migrated away after suffering for a couple of years to a company called Libresoft who have been brilliant. They may be able to do a migration from that database, not sure if they would be able to do it without login details though. 1
gmonks Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 I echo Steve, don't do it! We were automatically moved to the hosted one a few years ago and it was awful. 2 years ago we moved to Libresoft and as Steve said they are brilliant. As well as being cheaper, it's much easier to use. Support is great. Would definitely recommend you taking a look. They were able to migrate our database as part of the installation.
lmcuak Posted June 7, 2021 Author Posted June 7, 2021 Well apparently we use the secondary school version here and the only issue we have is that we have to manually update from sims new intake and move year groups around ect as we didnt pay for the sims link
LeMarchand Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Is the primary still paying them for support? If so, they should be able to provide you with an account number. IIRC that's all you needed to start a new installation and then you could import the database (it's been a while and not at a school that might have the old files lurking today!). Also worth checking if your Finance peeps can find one. OTH: Libresoft FTW - worth starting from scratch to get away from MLS.
