USB C hot mess

Random question of the day; anyone found a decent infographic to explain the hot mess that is USB C?

 

Got chatting to a friend last night and can’t help but feeling there must be something out there the explain USB C the different data speeds, with and without power delivery then Thunderbolt 3/4 or USB4.

 

A quick Google turned up some bits for thunderbolt but not recent and definitely not the complete picture (so to speak).

Last time i looked I couldn't even find a program that would tell me what was supported for a given system

I have the usbc HP docking station G5 that has the display port alt mode and PD I plug it into any usbc hole I see and see what happens surprised at what devices support it! (ipad pro) and a crummy DFE supplied dynabook

 

usbc can be as lame as a usb a port with just 5 gbp, or have 3.2x2 usbc that is 10 gigabit, carry DP-alt mode so a portion of the bandwidth is dedicated to display port data and PD is power delivery at various current and voltages.

 

Thunderbolt 2 and 3 uses a usbc port but isn't usb but intel opened up thunderbolt so anyone can use it (amd) on usb type c verison 4
