Popular Post Jawloms Posted May 27, 2021 Popular Post Posted May 27, 2021 Might be useful to someone. This actually tells you how to setup a free, quite powerful minecraft server but I assume you can use it for other things! ARM processor though. https://blogs.oracle.com/developers/how-to-set-up-and-run-a-really-powerful-free-minecraft-server-in-the-cloud I did see somewhere about the server being reset after 30 days, but it is free forever! 7
Danp Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Thanks, I'll give this a go over half term. It will mean I can move mine off my own server
RobD Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 My 6 year old is desperate for mimecraft, could I set this up and avoid the £6 monthly fee?
Jawloms Posted May 27, 2021 Author Posted May 27, 2021 I thought most six year olds would play on an iPad or similar (which is bedrock edition) on their own? This is Java edition. It may be possible to set up a bedrock server for him/her to play with friends, but I wouldn't know how I'm afraid. 1

localzuk Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Last I checked, your only way of having a multiplayer server for Bedrock edition was to use a "Realm". Though, I've seen that dedicated servers may be on their way. 1
browolf Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 I wonder if you can use this to run a blockchain node for free.
bald_pig Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Should be useful for those of us who don't have room for a homelab, cheers!
RobD Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Should be useful for those of us who don't have room for a homelab, cheers! Are you sure you want to bother, what if someone asks you about it in an interview?
bald_pig Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Are you sure you want to bother, what if someone asks you about it in an interview? People generally focus on skills and knowledge in an interview, I'm sure I'll be fine. On the plus side, at least you have somewhere to put your minecraft server if you decide to keep it on prem.

I'm sorry, I've clearly upset you which I didn't intend to do, would you like to talk about it privately.
Rob_D Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Looks cool, but I'm always a little suspicious of the "it's free, honest, but we want your credit card details anyway" type deals.
