Hi everyone,

I'm trying to update the firmware on my Unify AC Pro access points from the Unify controller but pointing them at the firmware download url doesnt seem to be working.

I'm guessing this is because we are behind a proxy so it wont be able to reach out to the Internet?

Anyone know a way of updating them?

Thanks all.

Just another note - I presume you know that the initial download link takes you to an agreement page which then displays the real download link. I've previously attempted to use the initial one with no success :-)

This is how I tend to downgrade ours after an upgrade has gone wrong! Always give one AP a try first rather than just risking it and hoping that the upgrades work!

Yep, currently testing it out on our least used AP.

It's a right faff though don't you think. You'd think Unifi would have enabled a way of adding proxy settings in.

Just thinking....I take it the Controller does the downloading of firmwares so if I can get the IP of the controller to not be proxied then that should work.

I do this, I add it to the bypass so I can download and cache it on the controller then I can roll it out... then remove it.

Hopefully V5 for the AC-PRO's will be out soon... its out on the LR and Lites already.

Thanks for your reply.

Why do you remove it and not just leave it un-proxied?

Sorry I mean I just allow it to bypass everything and go out on the internet. I usually do just leave it but its probably not good practise.

Mine would never update from the controller until I went to settings, system settings, maintenance, device firmware cache and downloaded it there. Once it is downloaded to the controller (which worked fine through our filtering) I could update all the aps from the controller.

you can manually point to a url with the firmware. I use the wpad location as all devices can access that url easily. I just bung the firmware in the folder with wpad.dat copy the url and tell it to use the update. you can enable multi select in the webinterface to batch update using the custom url.

Just had to do that. Thankyou for the tip.
