Bev Posted May 13, 2021 Posted May 13, 2021 (edited) We used to use one by Scan but I can' not longer find it in the app store. We are now having issues with using the camera due to a conflict with our MDM so I need to put a QR code reader on the iPads until that is resolved, but I can't find one that I am happy to use in school, they either have in-app purchases, loads of adverts, or they open the link in their own internal browser rather than in Safari. Is anyone using one they are happy with? I don't mind a small advert that doesn't' affect the use, but some I have tried open a full page advert before they open the link, and they are confusing for me to use, so I won't put them on kids iPads. Rob_D Posted May 13, 2021 Posted May 13, 2021 This seems to work okay - for QR links it puts a clickable version on the screen rather than taking you straight to the page. https://www.the-qrcode-generator.com/scan
Bev Posted May 13, 2021 Author Posted May 13, 2021 (edited) That's not working on an iPad as it's using the front camera instead of the rear camera. Edited May 13, 2021 by Bev
TechMonkey Posted May 13, 2021 Posted May 13, 2021 (edited) Normal camera app? EDIT: Sorry just seen the line where you are having issues with the camera. No help then Edited May 13, 2021 by TechMonkey
tmoon-mint Posted May 13, 2021 Posted May 13, 2021 Have you tried Qrafter? Qrafter - QR Code Reader on the App Store (apple.com)

jmak Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Would a browser with a built in QR code reader be any use, or is that the same issue as a QR code reader app with a built in browser? I use the Opera browser which has built in QR reader function.
bknaggs Posted May 15, 2021 Posted May 15, 2021 Depending on your iOS version the camera app will read a QR code and if the result is an http link it opens in safari.
Bev Posted May 20, 2021 Author Posted May 20, 2021 I've had a message from JAMF to say they are putting out a fix today, so hopefully that will resolve it. Thanks for all the suggestions.
