Google Time-Based Access

I think this is a request that will slip when the ramifications sink in, but is there a built-in way to limit student sign in to Google based on a schedule?

 

I have seen that there are third party apps/services, but as they are a bit shy about pricing...

Completely off the top of my head, I think Google can use ADFS to authenticate.

 

You could therefore schedule your AD accounts to only be active during certain hours, which ADFS would presumably honour.

 

You'd have to set session expiry length in Google which I believe is available somewhere.

So do you mean automatically end their access after a period of time, or between certain hours?

I'm going to guess the original request was to limit access outside of school hours, which could be interesting, but without ADFS providing the authentication direct you might be out of luck.. and even then we all know it will open up more issues than it might want to solve such.

Basically only want it during school hours.

Yeah, this is a knee jerk reaction to a weekend incident. I don't think anyone thought about homework.

Definitely seems knee jerk, but if you really wanted to do it, you could script GAM to suspend them and same to remove the suspension and then you'd need to schedule the task using Task Scheduler/cron

 

Only problem then, would be any emails between those suspended times would bounce.

I think I'll wait to see if any further requests are made. I found another email sent the day before which may not be covered by the suspect's alibi.
