What aspect ratio do you have for your classroom AV

Just a quick survey: what aspect ratio do you currently have in you classrooms?

 

We have a large number of legacy (4:3) boards, and I'm trying to figure out what to do when we replace projectors ad-hoc, whether to go for 16:10/16:9 and accept the smaller image on the boards, or stick with 4:3.

 

The advantage of 4:3 recently has been that all the PowerPoints prepared for the legacy displays had no trouble at all when we needed to fit them onto 1366x768 netbooks inside a Yeams window, while those PowerPoints prepared assuming 1080p/16:10 aspect ration were almost unusable.

 

But somewhat obviously as we get more teachers from elsewhere, they will have resources prepared designed around the display resolution/aspect ratios they are used to....

 

So... how do you do it?

Switched to 16:9 screens a few years ago.

We've moved to entirely WXGA projectors like the EB-W05 over the last 5 years. All teachers monitors are 1920x1080, though we often set them to 1280x720 so that the projection is nice when duplicated. Varies by room but we're trying to standardise all teacher desks on two monitors with the second duplicated with the projector.

Just about to change the last 4:3 analogue systems over this summer. But the academics still have 4:3 content that pillarboxes on 16:9 - what can you do?

We're in the same position and waiting for the decision to be made on funding etc.

 

Mostly 4:3 Smartboards,with 1024 x 768 projectors and having to compromise on a 19" widescreen monitor.

 

Some have Full HD TVs etc but in the minority. Long upgrade programme.

That's ace and sounds like good progress being made.

 

I tried the dual-screen setup with 2x TFTs on the desk and a TV on the wall and got very mixed results. No-one seems interested in progressing it other than me. Even with the benefits of showing a video to class on one screen and having something the teacher is doing on the other screen.
