Where do I begin with this pile of manure!

Anyone else encountered a machine with Windows 10 Mode S?

Basically a stripped down version of Windows 10 where you can basically do burger all apart from give pleasure to Microsoft by signing up with a Microsoft account and being forced to only use the Microsoft app store.

A user brought me one of these devices that had sadly been installed with mode S.

You cant do anything with it. Cant even install your own software.

Apparently you can switch it over but I spent a good while trying to do that last night without success.... It constantly wanted me to sign in with a Microsoft Account. User is setup on Windows using a local account.

Don't want a MS account. Kept reverting back to S Mode regardless of changing product keys, etc.

Ended up doing a full re-install in the end to Win 10 Pro.

It's designed to be a more secure OS where everything is in its own container and can't break the rest of the OS, like Android and iOS

Yup, the 'official' way to upgrade from 10 S to full-10 is via a download from the Microsoft Store, which requires an account to be associated with the user.

Total garbo. Stay away from 10S.
