APMerry Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Is there anyone using the latest release of Xibo on Windows 10? I've got Xibo Docker setup on a Windows 10 machine, but the latest client version just constantly crashes for me. I've had 1.7.9 for years and never bothered to upgrade because Docker seemed like a right pain. I've finally done it, but can't get any displays to work. I've tried 2 different windows 10 machines and the client crashes on both. The same machines had the older version of the client working absolutely fine. I'm getting a .NET Runtime error in event viewer every time the client crashes. Any one else experienced similar?
willtech Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Does running as admin crash as well ? We had a permission issue on one a few weeks ago.

Steve21 Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Have you tested it with a default boring template? Most common kernel errors with xibo are either memory running out with things like videos, or silly items like templates not liking embedded files (powerpoint etc) So just doing a boring blankish template should give a nice easy test as to if it's one of those it's not happy with Steve
APMerry Posted April 16, 2021 Author Posted April 16, 2021 I've tried the default layout and even made a layout with nothing but a background image. These crashes happened before a layout was even assigned to the machine.
JoeHell Posted August 4, 2021 Posted August 4, 2021 Hello, I have the same problem, Xibo Client crashing with Windows 10 Pro. Did you resolve this problem? That's stupid, it worked with the old Xibo Client, but I updated Docker, Xibo and Xibo Client, and now the client crashes each time I run it.
APMerry Posted August 20, 2021 Author Posted August 20, 2021 Hey, I kind of gave up trying to fix it and rolled back to the Xamp using Xibo 1.7. I posted on the Xibo community and didn't get much help. It really doesn't make sense to me, let me know if you do have any luck.
ITGuyNW Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 Does anyone have Docker working properly? I have done a server migration and wanted to implement it for Xibo but from installation through to the end thing I get constant errors and issues. I've binned it off now.
mdrabble Posted October 18, 2021 Posted October 18, 2021 I’ve just updated from 1.7 to latest version but I’m running a Linux VM to host then Xibo back end and windows clients to run the signage. Opted for a clean install and then I manually exported all the layouts and imported to new server without issue. Also did the same for the media. Uninstalled the old windows client and installed the latest client. So far all going will without issue.

I've had docker running happily for 2 years now. It's never crashed. It's been up and down for constant docker updates , but never crashed. I've got 3-4 other containers running, like Unifi Controller, Moodle and an internal Joomla site too. It's an 8yr old Dell T110 with 16gb ram and a half TB SSD.

I went back to the usual xampp + CMS for 3.0.3. I really wanted to use Docker but I was getting constant complaints, and I'm not even sure why! Even stipulating a custom port wasn't being picked up. Shame.
slugshead Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 I couldn't get docker to work on ubuntu or server 22. Synology DSM has an almost one click install for docker. We've been running xibo on windows 10 machines now for about 5 weeks with only teething issues.
