DalekSec Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 Reading the FAQ's it suggests that PaperCut Hive is not the right product for Education and MF/NG are more suited? Correct, they don't recommend it for Education just yet, so need to stick with our MF for now!
DalekSec Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 From their FAQs Education has special requirements and the initial phase of PaperCut Hive is not tailored for education. Check out PaperCut MF , which is specifically designed for education. Over time we’ll be bringing more cloud technologies to education. Stay tuned for more announcements.
ITGURU Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 the ability to print even when the internet’s down (that one’s coming soon) As soon as I saw the product this was my immediate thought, what happens when the internet is down, which will either mean still a server on-site or more program data stored on each machine to upload once the internet is active again.

How often does your internet go down? If it's that often you have to worry about papercut not working when it's down your time is probally better spent getting a new ISP!

However a fiber break or cable damage could happen at any time, and we don't have a resilient line.
Steve21 Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 It says on the video on the site about it working when internet is down still, doesn't say much about it but guess it just logs the admin data and does the print direct Steve

Norphy Posted July 26, 2021 Posted July 26, 2021 Never. However a fiber break or cable damage could happen at any time, and we don't have a resilient line. There was the Virgin Media outage a few days ago which was caused by a massive underground electrical explosion. It got one of our schools and a lot of LGFL schools. We were lucky as we have another circuit at a different site that we can use but not everyone would have been. It’s unusual, but it’s a concern.
