[bromcom] Provisioning Student users in Google via Bromcom

Hi all, just reading some papers with regards to the Bromcom integration.

 

Just looking at the Google user provisioning section for both staff & students.

 

Staff is fine, staff exist in the same OU in AD/Google.

 

Students however are in a sub OU of "Students" 2021,2020,2019 etc.

 

Bromcom only allows you to define one OU for students.

 

How are you guys doing this with your student integration?

 

I was thinking of having a "holding" OU for student accounts..... just thought i'd ask on here to see if anybody is doing it differently or maybe i'm missing something?

Students go into that holding OU, then we move them into the OU they need to be in for permissions etc. Bromcom doesn't move them once they're created, so we can move them into the OU they need to be in after that.

 

I like it that way, gives us overview, and the ability to move them into Sub-OUs if we need to strip a permission for whatever reason.

Did you create your holding OU or did you let bromcom do it? Out of curiosity, what does it name it?

Bromcom did it.

It creates an OU called BROMCOM GENERATED and then under that you'll have (Staff XXXXX) and (Student XXXXX) where the XXXXX is the number of your Bromcom install.

we're not at the point yet. just had the "test" instance sent over this morning
