Hyper-V Manager - Urgent Help Needed

Hi all,

 

Have a Hyper-V server (Hyper-V Manager 2019) at one of our primaries that suddenly will not connect to the network! No connectivity and all servers down.

 

My colleague is there at the minute and when viewing Option 8 all that is there is option 3 which is a Hyper-V virtual network adapter and has a 169.* address. I am guessing this is a management interface that I should not change the IP on. Options 1 & 2 do not seem to be there and I am guessing this is the issue!

 

I have run the following commands and get these responses:

 

get-netadapter

vEthernet (Core Network) Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter 5

Ethernet Intel® Ethernet Connection (2) I21 4

 

netsh interface show interface

Admin State State Type Interface Name

Enabled Connected Dedicated vEthernet (Core Network)

Enabled Connected Dedicated Ethernet

 

This seems to indicate the server can see the interface, but Hyper-V manager cant. Can anyone help????? Do I need to change the virtual network adapter to the management IP of the host?

Make sure the virtual switch adapter has an IP Set, How are your nics setup ?

Thanks for the tip earlier! It was that one NIC, once the settings were in I could ping the host. VM still didn't kick in but after some more diagnostics it turns out the State was stuck in saved. Cleared saved state data and back to normal.

 

Not sure what caused it - particularly the loss of a previously static IP! - but just glad it is back up and running.
