jaminben Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Good Afternoon, We've been migrating our primary schools email accounts from one tenant to another and these have new domain names (old_domain_name.com to new_domain_name.com)... we've been using the bog standard .csv file (migration batch file) method which uses account names and passwords. Next on our list is high schools and we're not too keen on doing this due to the amount of users... we've looked at Key Vault but can't work out the pricing. Does anyone know of another method to migrate a users mailbox from one tenant to another (new tenant uses a new domain name)?... preferably free. Thanks Ben
snagrat Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Not free but I use Cloudiway to do it. Very simple 1
Edu-IT Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 Not free but MigrationWiz can do it. Education pricing is a couple of pound per mailbox. 1
HPlum78 Posted March 4, 2021 Posted March 4, 2021 (edited) Keyvault price is based on reads/ writes and it's points of pence per operation, I guess you are looking at this process: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/cross-tenant-mailbox-migration?view=o365-worldwide Edited March 4, 2021 by HPlum78 1
jaminben Posted March 5, 2021 Author Posted March 5, 2021 Thanks for the responses Have looked at MigrationWiz before so will re-visit that and compare it against Cloudiway. Keyvault price is based on reads/ writes and it's points of pence per operation, I guess you are looking at this process: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/enterprise/cross-tenant-mailbox-migration?view=o365-worldwide Yes, that's the one I was looking at... not sure how you would calculate an overall cost without it getting out of control.
HPlum78 Posted March 5, 2021 Posted March 5, 2021 So when I say points of pence its 0.022p per 10000 operations (basic) or 0.112p per 10000 operations (advance). So even if you are talking 10000 accounts and it's classed as advanced operations and the script is making multiple calls to the key vaults it's still pennies.
Sylv3r Posted March 7, 2021 Posted March 7, 2021 We used this and it worked reasonably well. Not sure of the costs off the top of my head. https://www.codetwo.com/office-365-migration/ 1
