We have been donated some new Chromebooks but are unable to enroll them into our GSuite domain because we don't have enough licenses, can anyone tell me where I can obtain the upgrade licenses from as RM are just not answering emails and they are on Googles partner list.

Thanks

So I obtained some quotes but notice that they have all quoted similar prices , I have no problem with that but the licences are only for over 3 years.

Yet I have seen online perpetual licences that last the lifetime of the device for more per licence but cheaper over the time if a chromebook is licenced and lasts 5-6 years.

Anyone want to throw in any thoughts?

Chrome Upgrade licenses are perpetual - I've vaguely heard of other options - mainly for business customers I think. Once used - they are tied to that model of Chromebook - so if it breaks you can reuse the license on another Chromebook of the same model.

The current RRP is £19 and in March that goes up to £29 - so I'd buy as many now as you can. In reality you should be able to get them for £15-£16 if you speak nicely to suppliers. We never pay more than £16 atm. Just ordering 2000 to beat the price rise.

Going rate is about £17... theyre a bit high - And theyre for the life of the chromebook that they get bound to - except in the event of replacement because of fault, they allow transfer to the same replacement hardware

1 licence is quoted over 3yrs £19 but if it is bought on the quotes given of 3 years from an educational supplier then in 3 years time that licence becomes renewable?

The same licence needs to purchased again in 3 years time under that quote that means another £19 which say over 6 years works out at £38 for that 1 licence so why are they offering £19 for just 3 years? its as though they are making the licence time limited and if its perpetual then surely the price on the quote shouldn't be time limited to 3 years.

It can make a difference on the overall cost of the licences especially 2000 of them if say we had to renew them in 3 years time at the new price.

Maybe Very PC could explain as they have chipped to the topic.

Who is quoting you? Have you spoken to Rebecca - [email protected] ?

Roger is right, we've been paying about £16 and the licence is perpetual for that model of device. He's also right about the price rise!

Hey @JATSO, so the license lasts for the lifetime of the device you are using, however the support from googles support team lasts for 3 years from the date the license is assigned to the device. After the 3 years, you do not need to buy another license unless you need the google support side of things. I hope this helps :)

They are 3 known educational known to us all.

I know about the price increase coming but limiting the licences 3 years and forcing a renewal after that 3 years is a bit cheeky and costs more in the grand scheme of things.

I will give one of them a call to ask why?

Because the licence isn't limited to 3 years - it's for the life of the device so whoever you're talking to is talking nonsense.
