Japtastic Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Hi all, Got a strange issue on one RDS server for the last 6 months or so. The majority of SNB files (that work perfectly well on every other device) don't work when using a remote desktop session, the words get scrambled up. This RDS server is a Hyper V. The Host server and RDS server are all up to from Windows Update and drivers from Dell including the host graphics drivers being changed a few times. Also tried adjusting the remote desktop client options in regards to graphics and quality, again with no joy. Smart Notebook has also been uninstalled and reinstalled with different versions tried. It does work fine if I remote in via LogMeIn to the RDS server and open an SNB file. It also works if I use the Hyper-V virtual machine connection. Any ideas?
ass17 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 In smart notebook I’m sure there is an option that is turned on to allow hardware acceleration, may be worth turning that off?
steveg Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 Smart isn't supported on RDS so there isn't a lot you can do to make it much better. I did try contacting their support and they confirmed this.
Steve21 Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 I take it you’ve tried changing resolutions and scaling? That looks like one is 4:3 and one 16:9 (from the button spacing at top) so wondering if that’s why it upsets it when tempting in but using LogMeIn with native res works? Steve
ITGURU Posted January 22, 2021 Posted January 22, 2021 We run smart notebook over remoteapp - never been advised of any issues. you could try disabling remotefx

Can't seem to find that and no way to do it in Hyper-V Smart isn't supported on RDS so there isn't a lot you can do to make it much better. I did try contacting their support and they confirmed this. Yes, heard that before. Just annoying that it worked for years and then stopped, while it works everywhere else we have it deployed. I take it you’ve tried changing resolutions and scaling? Steve Yes, tried various settings with no change We run smart notebook over remoteapp - never been advised of any issues. you could try disabling remotefx Will look into that but don't think we have it enabled anyway...
