ChrisH Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 I'm just wondering if any other the Lancashire schools are experiencing more issues with their pupils and teachers teams meetings held on the school connection? Obviously there is unprecedented demand on the Microsoft services currently but we have 50 pupils in school and they are constantly reporting issues with live lessons they are watching. I have previously told them this will be down to how busy the MS servers are and maybe the teachers connection etc but now when the staff are in and doing the lesson from within the building they are getting issues and the pupils at home are saying the lessons are unwatchable. Just putting the feelers out before I put a query in.
chaplic Posted January 20, 2021 Posted January 20, 2021 It's not a Microsoft issue. I know nothing about your school network setup, but I am guessing all traffic goes through a filtering proxy. This is good at spotting bad websites or even nasties in downloads, however it's awful at shipping real-time audio and video. Does not matter how fast your internet, servers, computer is a proxy is not good at video. Microsoft publish network ranges you should allow to route directly to them, bypassing the proxy. Number 11 here Office 365 URLs and IP address ranges - Microsoft 365 Enterprise | Microsoft Docs Teams will (probably) figure this out of the network connectivity is allowed and suddenly quality will be alot better. 1
ITGuyNW Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 We are with BT Lancashire and we are seeing worse and worse connectivity with Teams from within School. 1
dobbyit Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 We are from a Lancashire primary school who do not use BTlancs but use RM that use a proxy, Teams is slow but that could because of our poor speed of 50MB
psydii Posted January 28, 2021 Posted January 28, 2021 If not proxy, see what happens if you dial the MTU on a client down to 1280.
ChrisH Posted January 29, 2021 Author Posted January 29, 2021 It was bad for a while but seems to be okay now, I am ready to spring into action next time with more testing.
