moving from BGFL365 shared Microsoft 365 tenancy

Has anyone successfully migrated their school from the shared tenancy on BGFL 365 to their own Microsoft 365 tenancy?

Yep we did last April

Not BGFL related, but we migrated 2 individual school tenancies into a shared academy one last year. Used a product called BitTitan, did most of the heavy lifting for us.

I created all of our users using a CSV which was created using a report from SIMS, I then used EDB mails to migrate all mail from the BGFL tenant to our own. You feed EDB with a CSV which Link2ICT provide which contains temporary email addresses and passwords for all accounts, you provide it with Admin credentials for your Tenant and it does the rest

Yes I've done it - they're supportive of the migration process and will rename all accounts to *.onmicrosoft.com and provide a CSV with all user accounts and passwords.

 

You can then migrate the @school.bham.sch.uk domain as well as update your DNS records accordingly. You have 30 days, but you'll probably get longer in the current climate.

@kieran1990 thanks for the tips. EDBMails looks very good, almost certainly what I will use. Watching their videos as we speak. @Michael it's good to know that Link2ICT are supportive with these migrations.
