Afternoon all,

Just trying to tweak our SIMS server to 'optimise' performance as it can be a bit slow at times.

OS is Windows Server 2019 VM on Hyper V host.

I'm wondering how much Ram and how many processors you guys have allocated as I've read that over allocating processors can be detrimental.

Also, I'm assuming you set a max memory usage for SQL DB?

Thanks

SQL version seems to be the source of many performance issues - the recommendation used to be set compatibility to SQL 2012. Max memory should be the VM allocation less a margin for the OS (I have 14GB of 16GB).

20gb ram, 16gb in use, 4 cores, ssd raid. 500 children primary school. performance is just about ok.

We are optimising it much more in a couple of months by moving to another product :-)

Never, ever enough. You could have a cluster of crays and it will run like it's on a cluster of crayons.

Ours has dedicated 64gb ram, solid state storage all round and enough processor juice to power all sorts.
