Recommend an A3 scanner for home use

Mr gee40 is involved with his football club’s heritage website and is after an A3 scanner for scanning programmes that isn’t going to break the bank.

 

We don’t need a printer and we already have an A4 scanner... it is A3 scanning capability that is required.

 

Does anyone have any suggestions. I’m willing to consider a refurb if such things exist @ICTDirect_Dave?

Not something we've ever come across I'm afraid.

 

Stuff like scanners tend to get scrapped before we see them.

Cant remember last time I used a scanner, I tend to use a range of apps which work for me, I like genius scan and scan bot.

You may be better off checking out some scanner apps for iOS or Android..

Not for the quantities needed to be scanned. It needs to be a scanner

I think eBay is probably your best bet, if you don't have the budget to buy new.

There are drivers for it for Windows 8, which means it will probably work with Windows 10. Might be worth firing a question off to the seller asking if they've tried it with W10?

 

Otherwise you're looking at £650 minimum.

 

/edit Alternatively, have you considered contacting a local print/copy shop? Some of them might offer a scanning service. Depending on how much you need to scan, that might end up being a better value option?

I know you probably don't want an A3 MFP cluttering up the place but secondhand one might be cheapest option. You might have to buy the cheapest set of 3rd party inks to get it working but still slot less than£650!.

I think Brother used to a range of usable ones?

I use the Office Lens app for all my scanning, works a treat.

 

You could mount an Android phone on a stand place your document on the table link the phone to your PC and operate the phone via a pc, I have a Samsung S10 and use the DEX software from Samsung to control the phone on the PC.

Works fine and would be a lot cheaper than an A3 scanner.

You can rent scanners, might be a better idea if you have a month where you can scan in everything
