Google Meet - Is it possible to stop invitees from automatically joining a meeting

Perhaps I am loosing my mind and thought this was an option already, but we just tested a Google Meet with two other users and they were both automatically able to join the Meeting, the host didn't get the option to allow them into the meeting.

Is this now normal with all the Google changes going on?

Hard to keep up with all the little quirks since the changes! As far as I'm aware, anyone invited to a Google Meet, will automatically be able to enter the Meet up to 15 minutes before the start time.

I honestly thought there was an accept button or something the host could press to let people access the Meeting.

I had a Google Meet this morning with our ISP. I was waiting until they hit accept. I couldn't do anything until they did this.

You need to turn quick access off

According to the documentation, this will only apply to users who aren't invited however.

With Quick Access ON:

People who are invited (via Meet or Calendar) can join without permission

People in the same domain can join without permission

With Quick Access OFF:

People who are invited (via Meet or Calendar) can join without permission

People in the same domain can't join without permission

Just noticed it says this when Quick access is turned off

people cant join anonymously

So, we need to invite parents to Meetings but don't want them to automatically join, does this setting do this?

Yes, just don't add members just send the joining info - when they go to join it'll say something along the lines of ask to join - the host then can allow them in
