[ipad] DfE Supplied Laptops

Hi all,

 

Does anyone with more knowledge of iPads than me know how I go about associating the DfE supplied laptops (due to COVID lockdown) with Apple School Manager? They asked for the Apple ID during the sign-up but have arrived in what appears to be an unlinked state. If anyone can offer any guidance it would be greatly appreciated.

 

Also, having never used ASM before, is it an MDM-lite for pushing out apps etc. Is there any possibility of locking down devices using it?

You will need Apple School Manager AND an MDM in place to properly Supervise the iPads (unless you have an up to date Mac) They will ask for Apple ID's as it assumes you are a consumer and any apps purchased using them are owned by the Apple ID.

Thanks for that info, makes my understanding of ASM a bit better... happy with all of that and can setup a second site on Meraki which we use at the secondary to properly manage them so no issue on that front.

 

My issue is the devices shipped from the DfE are not linked under Apple School manager, despite providing this to the DfE. Is there something I need to do or should these appear within ASM?

In ASM, under Settings, then Device Management settings, you need to add Computacenter as a Reseller using their code COMPUTACENTER (UK) LTD (892F050)
