Hi All,

Need some advice. I need to adjust the period times for all periods in the school day. Do I just need to redefine the period times in Nova? And if I did define the period times again then would I need to export the timetable cycle or will just sending the curriculum over be ok? Finally could there be any negative effects if I changed the period times?

Thanks,

Jahir

I asked Capita about this in September but didn't get round to implementing it.

What you say sounds correct; change it in Nova, send the Cycle over.

You will also need to contact eg Classcharts and any other suppliers that consume and display the timetable to change their mapping of times to sessions.

If you change period times (via Tools > Define Period Times in Nova-T6) you need to 'Export Timetable Cycle to SQL', and then 'Export Curriculum and Timetable to SQL'. You then need to remember to do Apply Timetable in SIMS, and if using Lesson Monitor make sure that is configured correctly for the new cycle.

Thanks both. Sounds like it shouldn't break anything else in SIMS if I am just adjusting the period times...fingers crossed.

Digging up an old thread here.

I need to change the cycle as what I have uploaded has had an unforseen issue with the attendance module in go4schools.

If I export the timetable cycle again, I know it will knock out cover, which I have cleared with them, and that I have to send the timetable again and apply it.

Will it knock out the classes already loaded if I haven't changed anything else with the timetable?

Hi Staddman,

We find ourselves in the same place as you, term started on Monday and it has been discovered our lesson times need updating. Did you change your lesson times and did you find any problems if you did so. We are just worried about losing class membership and any other things this change may do to SIMS.

Thanks Dave.

Hi Dave

I have changed the lesson times to start on Monday. I had to apply the timetable again and all cover assignments were lost (I did warn them). I don't think it has affected class memberships - will find out on Monday!

Hi Staffman,

How did it go on Monday with the lesson times change?
