RabbieBurns Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Im trying to log on to a vista home premier machine as administrator but I cant seem to find a way to change the log on name from the normal user to administrator. All there is is a password field.
Stevenw Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 (edited) the admin account is disabled by default you will need to enable it. right click the Command prompt icon in start menu select run as administrator. now type "net user administrator /active:yes" log out and you should see admin account to disable do same but type "net user administrator /active:no" hope this helps Edited June 18, 2008 by Stevenw spelling
RabbieBurns Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Useful for future reference thanks.. but in this case I dont know the user's password so was trying to just log in as administrator hoping the password would be blank like most xp installs. Its no big deal Ill just need to find the teacher to ask her the password.
Stevenw Posted June 18, 2008 Author Posted June 18, 2008 the ultimate boot cd works fine Ultimate Boot CD - Overview burn iso to disk boot from disk filesystem tools Offline NT Password & Registry Editor follow the instructions to remove the password. but yeah asking the teachers is much easier
