All Consultants at Nexus Associates have an education background, either on the front line as teachers or in the background as technical staff. We know schools inside out and understand the unique ways in which schools use ICT and the demands this places on support services, infrastructure, software and hardware. Therefore, we are really interested in speaking with school Network Managers, IT Managers/IT Directors or Senior IT Technicians and Engineers that are looking for their next step up in their career journey.

 

 

The ICT Consultant will work from home and the ideal location is around Stanstead as the role will cover projects in London, NE Home Counties and E Anglia.

We are continuing to grow and expand, particularly following our appointment to the Crown Commercial Services RM 6103 framework and are recruiting people who have the skills and experience of working in a technical solutions development role ideally in one of the following areas:

• switch infrastructures,

• wireless network solutions,

• server and storage with virtualisation technologies or

• end-user device refresh cycles.

 

In this role the successful candidate will work from home, when not attending meetings at client/project sites.

The role will require the successful candidate to work alongside construction partners, design team members, school teams and a range of other stakeholders, providing expert technical and functional advice on a range of ICT areas as below, often requiring the output to be captured in reports and specification documents:

o Passive & Active

o Wireless

o Network Management

o Server Solutions

o Telephony

o Apple, Android and Microsoft client solutions

• Mobile Device Management

• Project Management of ICT solutions

• Government compliant procurement

• Desktop application (MS Office / Visio / Project / Sketchup)

• IT processes such as ITIL/FITS

 

The above list is not exhaustive, we don’t expect you to have experience in all areas. Support, training and development will be provided to the right candidates provide you the additional skills and expertise needed to fully take on this exiting role.

When you are not onsite or at meetings, you will be required to work from home to complete activities as required to meet project deadlines. We provide the ability for flexible working around project commitments.

 

 

Essential Skills:

 

 

You will have proven skills in a wide range of Information and Communication Technologies and be willing to develop your skills as industry changes dictate. We are looking for an individual who is self-disciplined, a self-starter and who is happy to take the initiative when given the opportunity and ask for support when needed. We need someone who is:

• Able to demonstrate design competency in a wide range of infrastructure technologies

• Presentable, personable and confident working with a wide range of people

• Ability to communicate confidently, with a wide range of stakeholders

• Able to organise themselves and their tasks

• Attention to detail

• Effective time management

• Able to work individually, as well as in a team

You will hold a full UK driving licence with access to a car.

 

 

Desirable Skills:

 

 

ICT infrastructure solution design:

o Core and edge switch infrastructure:

o Wireless infrastructure

o Telephone systems

• Educational experience – previous role as a schools Network Manager having gone through a new build/refurbishment programme

• Previous experience in a consultancy or IT pre-sales role

• CSCS/ECS/SSTS construction qualifications

You will receive training to receive accreditations to allow you to work visit and support our work on construction sites. This will include a suite of training and development to provide you with the competencies to undertake the role and coordinate installations on live construction sites including SMSTS, ECS card, manual handling and first aid as a minimum. We will also provide regular technical updates on products from leading industry vendors.
