Timetable Systems - Build your own student timetable

Hi all...

 

Looking to see if anyone on the forum is aware of a School timetabling solution that will generate the master timetable based on a set of restrictions, and then provide for a portal to allow the student to login and build their own timetable from the master... This is a second level school dealing mainly with years 10/11/12

Thanks!, I will take a look into that to see if it has potential. Its a pretty specific and unique requirement we have so not expecting there will be lots of choice.

My last school used Facility's Scheduler - not sure where that is available nowadays, presumably somewhere in https://www.oneadvanced.com/solutions/cmis-and-cmisgo/

 

Out of interest - what MIS system are you running - is it SIMS or another?

Not a single piece of software but Keith Johnson's TimeTabler has all the bells and whistles to make timetables and then the timetable can be imported to our MIS which has the ability for pupils to have a portal to see things like their timetable.

Thanks for those suggestions … While I've not have any involvement in SIS/MIS or Timetabling recently I do remember using Facility or CCM Scheduler back in the '90's! and noughties. Our current MIS is completely bespoke built on Filemaker, customised to provide a lot of non-standard functionality which is going to prove hard to leave behind!

Appreciate that, and was aware of Keith Johnson's - not sure it offers the ability though for the student to access the master timetable and build their own timetable by selecting the subject/teacher combination they want. We offer a lot of flexibility to the student here, for example we may have three different teachers teaching higher level maths at different times and the student can select the teacher they want to do it with based on where the availability is in their timetable.

Ah, no it doesn't, missed that requirement. Timetabler is purely a build a timetable and publish deal.
