Microsoft Teams. In a nutshell how does it work?

Hi.

 

I’ve used the free version of Teams a few times but in a nut shell what would a school need to use Teams?

Do they get it if they have office365?

Do they need a Microsoft address?

What if they don’t have office365.

M365 is free to schools, so might as well sign up.

 

You'd need MS accounts, but you can sync those from AD easily.

 

Then you just need a web browser, and mic/camera if you want to talk/....project your image

Teams ties a lot of things together, its makes security group, a distribution group, email group of users very easy, makes file storage and distribution for that Team, creates OneNote classes or PLCs for that team. messaging like forum for that group also video and desktop sharing with the team or everyone in a tenant. Combine this with SDS (to make team groups from sims) and it's a big leap towards blended learning.

Except, with respect, the teams/onenote approach appears to have so many gotchas and of you can't do that's that for me it it just useless.

 

I have used the Google approach before and it just "works" why do MS have such a poor approach to permissions etc.vwhy does the desktop version have facility X and not the browser and vice versa?

 

I have to be honest if you have a choice don't use this garbage.
