localzuk Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 You wouldn't log on to them at all - you set them up on your MDM, and make sure the profile you want applied is assigned to them. Then when you turn them on, they'll automatically connect to Apple, be pointed to your MDM solution, and follow the rules on your profile. 1

So does that mean they should already be listed in my MDM if the reseller has done their part correctly, or will they get listed after they have been turned on?
localzuk Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Yes, once they are in your DEP account, and your MDM is linked up to that same account, your MDM should automatically sync them across to it. In Jamf school, they appear in a dedicated DEP devices section only at first. Via that, you assign the profile etc... So, when they then get turned on and get that profile, they then also appear in the MDM's normal devices section - where you can apply changes/apps/etc... 1

What I am trying to workout is, should the devices be listed in ASM (which I assume is my DEP) or somewhere else now the iPads have left the reseller and are out for delivery. Should the reseller have added them to my ASM system already? Basically they are out for delivery but there are no devices listed in ASM or Mosyle and I need to know if I should contact the reseller.

Ours usually appear in DEP before we’re aware they’re out for delivery, it’s done by your reseller so it depends upon their workflows 1

I have never went looking for them in ASM/DEP - it all just works and they end up in the MDM. If there's no devices in Mosyle yet, I would contact the supplier as they should be there.
TwistedHelixis Posted November 1, 2020 Author Posted November 1, 2020 Just going through all the settings in Mosyle, at first it was a bit overwhelming but I think its all starting to click into place, I have created some default profiles etc :-). I am now wondering where I put our Smoothwall SSL certificate, is it in Management > Certificates / Custom Profiles? Thanks
