G Suite Enterprise for Education

Has anyone bought enterprise for education, If so have you been able to buy it in any quantity below 50, if so Who are you using to buy it?

The two I'm aware of that sell it are Vitalize and C-Learning.

 

There will be others I'm sure, but I'm not aware of them. Ask both, I'm sure one of them could do it.

We purchased our G Suite Enterprise for Education licenses from them back when they were on promo for £1.75 per member of staff/month.

I believe 50 is the minimum now or 15% of staff whichever is higher. That's what they are calling a Partial licence. A full licence would be all staff.

Of course, if you have more than 50 staff that you need to license but less than 100 staff total, it's cheaper to fully license all your staff as that's half the price of the partial licensing.

As set as it can be. Maunfacturers can't fix an RRP, so the seller can sell it at whatever price it wants, though obviously they're unlikely to take a loss on Enterprise licenses.

Like all the Google products, there probably isn't much margin for the seller.

Id say we get too much for free to make it worth.

 

if it was the cost to HAVE gsuite edu id say its a steal, but the "upgrade" from EDU to EDU Ent is pretty lack lustre, a few comming soon bells and whistles on meet and local dialin and some better logging in admin - its a pretty hard sell to the higherups

Depends on the features you want. For a Admin, definitely. Gives you access to BigQuery.

For users, depends if they use Meet, or if you're already paying for Turnitin. Could be cheaper to license your whole school for Enterprise than just pay for TurnItIn.

 

Having the school-wide plagarism checking in Google Classroom including internal checks with Enterprise, could definitely be worth it.

 

Of course, because a lot of it has been free in the past, you're still going to get your complaints that not all of it is going to stay free from some people.

But its £2 a month per staff member if you license your whole school. It's really low price compared to Business Enterprise.

I'm guessing by that page that kids are free (for now) and would just need licencing for staff, now is that all staff or just teaching staff? - I'm not sure how this licencing works

Yes you can get it below 50 as well. It basically requires declaration from the College / School and you should be able to buy it. You are also given student license for free so for every 1 Teacher License you get 10 Students License free.

Temporary Recordings means that recording will only be available for 30 days post which it would be auto deleted. Also the recordings cannot be deleted. So if you need permanent recording you need licenses.

Yes. There will be a new "Temporary recordings" function, it will have the following limitations:

 

• You won't be able to download the videos from Google Drive to your computer. Cloud only.
  
• You won't be able to share the videos outside your domain
  
• They will automatically be deleted after 30 days
  

You'll keep the full recording feature until the temporary function is released.

Not quite sure what is meant by no live streaming? Admin panel says "Streamed meetings have a URL that can be sent to others so they can watch the meeting." Isn't that just a meet ?

 

*edit* NM streaming is done through calendar invites? - I very much believe noone uses this here and I didn't even know what it was! It would've come in handy too

Yep! My school uses the live streaming feature for assemblies (among other things).

They've just setup a Google meet and each form tutor has joined for assemblies here - worked fine upto now but yes streaming would've been easier. It's quite well hidden under dropdowns though so no wonder I missed it.

that the student licences won't be able to save recordings either but that's not a problem as we don't allow students to create meets

Does the Enterprise version give you any better reporting on who used a Chromebook and for how long? The current reporting in G Suite is terrible. It's a shame they don't do an enterprise licence for just Admins.

The enterprise does have a option which is propose to give the meet attendance so I assume it will give additional details as well.

Not unless you find some kind of workaround, no. Downloading and saving is a feature of Enterprise.

Live streaming so people only watch the Meet, rather than take part in it. We've used it for our staff first meeting of the year to announce changes and updates, and it's available to our heads of year for assemblies.

I mean it's all relative. Give me G Suite Admin over the nightmare Microsoft provides any day!
