mrhall Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 Dear All, We've got an A1 plus licence - seems that during the summer Microsoft has downgraded things so that -> the recordings of meetings no longer upgrade to Stream -> teachers cannot delete the recording -> we could download them and then re-upload to Stream - but this seems like a lot of work! https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-teams/recorded-video-not-showing-in-streams-login/m-p/1319381 Anyone found the same? Thanks Peter
Boredguy Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 This was in the MS information back in August that on the 20th Aug it would not automatically be saving to Stream but it will stay in the users history for 20 days so they can download the file and then upload it. Can understand why as lots of resources were being used by people recording a meeting that might not have been needed. 2
bald_pig Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 In order: Yes Not that's been reported Yes. This was communicated to 365 admins....
aicrd Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 I just had a meeting the other day and we recorded it and it saved to Stream. Is this only with the A1 licences? Or does it apply to all of Office 365?
hyb80 Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 Anyone know the package we upgrade for this to work as before. Also, here the videos were not made available for students, instead kept for safeguarding reasons. However now the video is there for all and from what I can see at the moment cannot be deleted off the feed by the teacher.
chazzy2501 Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 (edited) EDIT: It'll say recording unexpectedly ended and offer to download it and not sync to stream. We have this issue, a MS guy took screen recording and wireshark logs whilst it went wrong. And is looking into it. a1 plus faculty licence. Edited September 17, 2020 by chazzy2501 1
chazzy2501 Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 btw, the issue has occurred in the middle of a different support call with Microsoft. This is where some teams recordings would not playback on some IOS devices, the support guy at MS said that the stream record guys rolled back an encoding optimization that caused that issue and wanted to verify the fix. Now this stream upload problem occurred. yay!
mrhall Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 Staff could download the recording, and upload to streams, but even for one teacher this is a reasonably significant piece of work (and please please hope no-one suggests us IT support just do everyones!) Deleting - best solution we can think of - is to create a new channel, host the meeting within the channel - and then delete the channel if necessary. Sigh. This isn't really what we're hoping for. Peter
Boredguy Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 Information taken from Office 365 message ID MC218985 Updated August 27, 2020: We are pleased to announce that this feature has completed rolling out and is available in your organization as applicable. For customers with Office 365 A1 and A1 Plus licenses, Teams meeting recordings will no longer automatically upload to Microsoft Stream effective August 20, 2020. Key points Timing: August 20, 2020 Roll-out: tenant level Control type: user control Action: review and assess How this will affect your organization This change is expected to last through the end of 2020, and Microsoft will provide updates for further changes. Meetings recorded before August 20 are not affected by this change. Following this change, your end users will continue to be able to record Teams meetings. To playback the meeting recording, participants will need to download the file from the chat window. To share or archive a recording, meeting participants will need to download the file and then upload it to Teams, Stream, SharePoint, or OneDrive. Meeting recordings will be available in the meeting chat for a period of 21 days after the meeting. After 21 days, the meeting recordings will no longer be available for download from the chat.
mrhall Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 Yep - that's their message. Doesn't say anything about deleting - so other than adding to a channel and then removing the channel - can't see a way to do this. When I first read the "meetings won't be uploaded automatically to streams" I was hopeful it would be a setting we could apply so that meetings "could" be uploaded - but sadly not, unless you download them first....
Boredguy Posted September 17, 2020 Posted September 17, 2020 So are you wanting to delete the recording before the 21 days is up? There doesn't appear to be anyway to do that, same as there isn't anything visible to remove a previous meeting from the channel. Certainly the fact that a recording won't go for 21 days is fine by us as all staff have to record any meeting with a student present, and it means they can wait to move it to MS Stream til they have free time.
