Can anyone help please?

As it's the start of the year, does anyone have guide on how to upload SIMS class lists to Junior librarian? It was a real chore last year and wondered if anyone could help please?

Thanks

I'm assuming you're out of contract and using the old version (3.2.2.31)? If on the cloud version, they should be able to provide support.

If non-cloud, do you have the Student data report.RptDef loaded into SIMS as a report? This will generate the class lists in the preferred format.

Anyway, we never had any electronic documentation to post, and we now use Libresoft (recommended!) so who knows where the paper copy is. Just fired up the old JL installation to refresh my memory and it was something like...

  • Take a manual backup (just in case my memory is faulty)
  • Generate SIMS report
  • Log in as Librarian and go to Database>Intake>Import and follow prompts (IIRC best to put the report at the root of a USB drive) I think it walks you through the process from there on in

You should end up with a list of unknowns (hopefully this is just your new starters) but some will be those that have changed their names due to marriage/divorce or have had their names corrected on SIMS. I always found it best to have someone who is familiar with the students on hand to help with the matching up.

These could possibly help....

I'm sure at least one person has this problem every year and asks the same question. I seem to remember it 'might' have been @witch last year (or the year before - it's starting to fly by) but I've searched and can't find the posts...

Well found!

Amazed MLS haven't removed those as a "Cloud Transfer Incentive"!

:D

Thanks! Hope they don't read this!!!

Amazing what junk (I mean useful things) I have left lying around on numerous 'archive' computers, drives, folders....

There are a few old links I found that go to dead pages or require you to have a new account with them for some stuff, maybe they've just forgotten about it (you can find practically anything on the internet - I'm really not sure how we survived before it).

Sometimes I complain about the teachers having work going back years and years on the server, but in all honesty I'm worse!

Probably was me

We have the cloud version and I found all the details about how to update for the new year on the capita reading cloud support pages

However

We had a shortcut to the webpage for our cloud library

I had it noted on my various lists - then we got hit by ransomware and lost everything

The computers have been reimaged

I have no idea what the address is for our cloud

Oh dear
