Error 0x80040303 with APC software

Hi all,

 

When i try to uninstall the APC powercute server software it get the error code

 

0x80040303

 

I know that this code can be applied to many different software packages but in this case it is the APC UPS server software.

 

Anyone know what it means or how to resolve it or failing that how to get rid of piece of software (reg keys and all) without using the provided unintaller.

I'd try three things....

 

Firstly, re-install it if you have the original software. This will maybe give you the option to repair the installation, then try uninstalling it.

 

Secondly, re-name the original install folder in Program Files to something like .old and then re-install the software - this may overwrite some of the existing files/reg keys, then try uninstalling it.

 

Thirdly, try using Microsoft's Windows Installer CleanUp which I think can be found on Softpedia.

all fixed thanks for the help, turns out i had to delete the reg keys that had hung about due to the failed uninstall
