Some advice on a new switch please.

Hi,

 

We are having a new ICT suite built to replace an old one which is going to hold 15 computers.

 

In my main comms cab i have 2 D-Link DGS12-24T switches acting as the core switches. Now i need to buy a new switch for the new ICT suite. Is it worth me buying a beefier managed switch such as a ProCurve 1800 and using that as the core switch and using the d-link in the ICT suite or just buying another d-link?

 

I only really have £200 to play with and the switch must be 24 port and full gigabit. No fiber required

Netgear would suit your budget, we get their unmanaged 24 port gigabit switches for about 220 I think.

We've bought a few of these recently 3Com Baseline 2924 24 Port Gigabit SFP Plus Switch - Misco.co.uk

 

the advantage being the web management - proved really handy.

 

also £180 ex VAT

I'm a fan of the Dell PowerConnects myself. 2724 would be my suggestion.
