Provide external access to video files for parents

With the uncertainty of all pupils returning to school in Septembe (Wales) we are looking at ways of making teaching resources available to parents to aid with homeschooling.

 

The current thought process is to use something like MS Whiteboard app to teach a group of kids, eport and save as a video file and make available for parents and children to use at home to help them.

 

We curently use Teams for KS2 and SeeSaw for FP. SeeSaw has a small file limit so upoading a vdeo there is a no go, teams is fine.

 

Apart from Youtube has anyone got another idea on wat we can use for filehosting with external access ? Or even an alternative to SeeSaw with larger file sizes ?

What's wrong with youtube? We have hosted all of our home learning videos on there, made them public but unlisted and then linked from our website. Started creating year group accounts so teachers could upload themselves.

We've just got staff to record themselves using Google Meet and present their screens so pupils see the teacher and the lesson. We created a new user in G-Suite created a folder and made that accessible to parents. Staff just move the finished videos into year group folders each day.

Microsoft Stream doesn't offer external streaming:(

We've just posted videos on our school website. (hosted by WIX)

You could also share the videos using sharepoint if you allow external sharing at all. (we do not)

We successfully used Planet eStream but that was something we already had and used, so not a new purchase for the COVID season. It does a whole lot more than just host video files so if that is what you are after it may be overkill and a cost to match.

You can share from GSuite if you don't fancy YouTube.

 

Presumably there won't be any sensitive images, so I wouldn't expect there to be any issues if you set properties to "available to anyone with the link". You can set so that it's not available for download.

G Suite will hit a limit, as it's not designed for public hosting of videos. I don't know what that limit is, but we've hit it a few times.

We've fallen back onto unlisted YT videos.

If you roll out the Seesaw for Families app you don't need to upload them, parents will just see any work or videos their child has created in the app...?
