iPad control for IT Support (post lockdown)

I’m trying to see if there’s any contactless means of seeing and/or controlling iPads brought into IT Support?

 

My first thought was Impero (which we have and love) but I can’t see any sign of iPad control anymore?

 

We have AirServer but currently student WLAN is blocked; not insurmountable.

 

I’ve recently discovered screen recording function being used as a broadcast feature; could this be tapped into with an appropriate app?

 

Would a Bluetooth mouse/trackpad/keyboard be a viable option? How would the mouse handle being used on multiple successive devices - if student 1 didn’t unpair before they left, could student 2 pair to it?

 

Throwing it out there for any other ideas.

What is it you want to do on the iPad? iPads are managed via MDM, screen recording is user native is iOS?

If a student comes in saying she can’t edit a document that’s been shared in Google Docs (for example) I would normally take the iPad off them and play around with it, check they’re signed into Google, check they’re on right WiFi, check app and iOS up to date.

 

That requires touching the iPad and seeing the screen.

 

Neither MDM nor Screen Recording helps me fix that problem (except if broadcasting screen to my PC to allow viewing, but it doesn’t help touching)

MDM will let you check the following....

 

Check the app and iOS are up to date, check the wifi settings on the iPad.....

 

The student could also record themselves on the iPad using the screen record function to show you the problem and email the video to you or share via Google drive maybe..?

This is tricky because Apple restrict and lock down the ability for third party software to control there devices. As the previous post suggests an MDM solution will allow you to check, manage and reinstall applications and even provide safeguarding on those devices.
