Whilst it is possible to pull users from Paxton into EntrySign (and the other way round) it isn't possible to export tokens from Paxton into EntrySign due to the way they're stored in Net 2. If you use Mifare cards however it's possible to do it the other way around - i.e. push the tokens from EntrySign into Paxton which can make administration a lot easier.

We were doing something similar but we found that it wouldn't work for us as the doors with Paxton on have green PTE buttons on the inside and readers on the outside only. We are going to have to put entrysign terminals on the entrance and exit points as well as the Paxton kit.... Its going to cost a fortune :(

Thanks for the info @NevTheDev

Looks like I'll be following Osbourne Supports advise and enrolling 300+ cards manually

Whilst annoying you can actually register the cards away from the main terminal. If you buy one of these, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/13-56MHZ-Contactless-HF-RFID-Smart-IC-Card-Reader-LED-USB-For-One-MF1-S50-S70/283777585389?hash=item42127650ed:g:vCcAAOSwswdesiW9 you are then able to use it as a keyboard, browse to the person in the Entrysign software, scan the card and it will register it.

If the tokens are already in circulation, then users can perform a self-enrolment at the EntrySign screen to link their card/fob (there's also a bulk enrol feature on the screen as well which admins can use). If you have the full token numbers somewhere (i.e. in a file or in AD etc.) then they can usually be imported relatively easily.

Approx half the cards are already in use - other half will be new cards.

With it being first day back for staff and having some personal health issues I’ve not had chance to look at the back end to check for user PIN (hoping all set to default 0000) which may make life slightly easier.

Waiting on a card reader to arrive tomorrow to see if that emulates keyboard with full number and not the 8 digit code as used by papercut.

There is a USB desktop reader available for EntrySign which works with the back office suite for this exact purpose, and assuming you have the V5 software it also offers some additional functionality too. I'm trying to avoid promoting/advertising here but think the information is relevant to your question (if anyone disagrees I'm happy to remove this post). With reference to the pin numbers, it's possible for the support department to bulk update these for you to help with enrolment.

Good luck with the first day back!

Sorry to necro this old thread, but interested in the interaction between EntrySign and Paxton...

We had Paxton for door entry for a while and more recently it was decided to modernise with EntrySign.

There are $reasons why things have ended up the way they have, but the decision to get EntrySign was made at SLT level and its administration is managed by the BM (I was involved purely to provide a network port, install the software on the admin computers and the server). We still have Paxton readers at all doors as the EntrySign terminal is only for Reception/Main Entry Door.

Anyway, it ended up working OK front of house, the EntrySign terminal tells Paxton to open the Main Door and Paxton terminals at the other doors function as they always have. But it's behind the scenes that concerns me...

Somehow (not sure if it's by design) EntrySign has written users to the Paxton database. Most staff now have two Paxton entries (original Paxton and new EntrySign ones) and some cards work on EntrySign and Paxton, but some only work on EntrySign (meaning they can't open any other doors, only the Main Door).

There are also entries in the Paxton database for 'guests' and other random visitors (who have only signed in to EntrySign)...

I thought I'd be helpful, tidy things up and try to address these issues, but I've fallen at the first hurdle due to what I've now found is the difference in the way the card/token number is stored/presented in either application...

Say I have 1 original user John SMITH created in a 'Teacher' User Group in Paxton, it appears when EntrySign was introduced it created another user in Paxton called JOHN, Smith (but not in any User Group).

Now John's original Paxton fob works in both Paxton and EntrySign, but the fob was taken back and a Card was issued. However the Card doesn't work with the Paxton readers only on the EntrySign terminal....

Looking at the 2 entries now in Paxton and the 1 entry in EntrySign, although I can kind of tell which is the EntrySign inserted account in Paxton, none of the token numbers match each other and I'm not sure of the ramifications of deleting either account in Paxton (or if EntrySign will just recreate it)...

Paxton

John SMITH - 123456

JOHN Smith - 456789

EntrySign

JOHN Smith - 489523106

Plus, randomly some tokens in Paxton have a key symbol, some have a fob symbol and some have a card!

From the screenshots below I am going to presume that:

The fob in Paxton (ending in 874) relates to the first token in EntrySign (ending in 728) and this was originally working OK.

The card was introduced later and somehow created the new Paxton entry (ending in 324) relating to the second token in EntrySign (ending in 449).... why?!

Therefore I can delete the whole user in the first (top left) screenshot and the first token entry (728) in EntrySign.

But in the second (top right) screenshot (which is the EntrySign user created in Paxton) what are the key symbols for?

Hi Koldov

EntrySign has a number of configurable options in relation to Paxton integration and how it handles users and token numbers and these need to be configured according to your requirements, your access control setup, what readers you have, the RFID technology in use etc.

When it comes to syncing users, there are options to push from EntrySign to Paxton or pull from Paxton to EntrySign and we can also do quite a bit of token manipulation where required to get numbers to match across different systems although the access control system and readers can create some inherent limitations themselves. EntrySign will not by default manipulate any users in Paxton which it has not created itself. You can therefore continue to manually administer users outside of EntrySign if desired although we wouldn't typically recommend this as it's generally better to keep to a single 'flow' where users originate from a source (e.g. Active Directory or an MIS system), are pulled into EntrySign and then pushed into Net2 for example. This helps to keep everything in sync as if you do create users directly in Paxton, then configure EntrySign to also push users then it's possible you'll might get some duplicates.

We'll drop you a PM and if you can let us have a contact number we will be happy to give you a call and chat about your specific setup and see if we can help to get things working as you'd like them.

The symbols can be changed with the "Change Token Type" button on the right hand side.

From the net2 side, I don't think they make much difference unless you use the role-call / Clocking in/out feature. I've not tested all of them though

The card IDs are probably going to be the same number in big and little endian format.

If you can get a phone with an RFID/NFC reader and an app, you can probably get the Hexadecimal format and use the formulas elsewhere in this thread to do the conversion.

The other option is if you have the paxton mifare readers on the doors, they have a usb reader that can be used to register cards. Also, you can get an android app for net2 that lets you register a card from a door reader. Paxton should have guides for setting that up.

Well, finally got round to pulling the trigger on this... what a mistake!

I thought I'd wait until after 9 a.m. to minimise disruption, finished up the data cleansing to make sure everybody was where they should be and had all the correct attributes set, then deleted all the users in Paxton and waited for 'THE SYNC' from EntrySign...

It didn't happen and less than 5 minutes later, first call came in 'We can't open the doors!'

Eventually got it to sync (apart from a couple of unique cases) and breathed a sigh of relief... 10 minutes later came another message 'We still can't open the doors!'

2 hours later and after an EntrySign support call and a Paxton database restore, I can finally sit down and have a cup of coffee!

It turns out EntrySign can't read our Paxton cards (well it can read the card, but gives it a different 'token number' to what Paxton thinks it is)!

So, we have disabled the user sync and will have to manage them as two individual systems.

What a complete waste of a morning that was....
