Show my homework and Microsoft Teams

Hi,

Were beggining to roll out Ms Teams in the next few weeks and i would be interested to hear of how school are using both services side by side.

 

I know one of the first comments staff will make is that the basics on Ms teams can be done on Smhw, so why do we need this?

 

Our headteachers idea was to eventually do away with smhw and use teams but i dont think Teams can offer the parental engagement that smhw can?

 

It would be great to hear from those who have both and how staff use the two together.

We use both SMW and teams.

 

Use SHW to post all work - so parents an keep an eye on what is work is being set.

 

Any materials students require are uploaded to teams and info posted on SWM

 

Not all staff or students use Teams - but for those that do, posting resources and questions on teams saves on emails between staff and students.

We are only using SMH, no use of teams to safeguard both staff and students

We are only using SMHW too. Not using Meet (opposed to Teams) due to safe guarding. Looking at other options such as SambaLive (digitalSamba), WixIQ and BigMarker but waiting for prices.

 

We have been asked how to make things more interactive and interesting as students are losing interest. For now i've suggested powerpoint recording (if using powerpoint 365 / 2019) or (Freecam8 / Yawcam / handbrake) to create pre-recorded lessons.

As a matter of interest, do you use the "Share to Teams" button in SMHW - and does it work. Doesn't work for us...

We started of using both. The a few teachers actually asked why they need to post to SMHW and then put docs ok n Teams. They found it a pain so we have now binned shmw and only Teams now.

One app I would recommend staff put on their Teams is the 'insight' app gives really good view to staff what the kids are doing. Gives times of day they are logged in and what they are working on and for how long.

We are thinking of doing the same with SMHW, one reservation I have is how do parents check what homework has been set if they no longer can do this in SMHW. I think parents like the ability to quickly login to an app an check what's been set.
