Chaniel Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Hello all, Been asked to price up a new ICT suite, chairs and stuff are usually a site team job but I'm just wondering what chairs other people use in their ICT suites? All our other ICT suites use office chairs like this on glides but I've found that with almost all of them, the gas rams have broken so they're always at the lowest point and the fabric gets picked at overtime. Thanks!
dhicks Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Been asked to price up a new ICT suite, chairs and stuff are usually a site team job but I'm just wondering what chairs other people use in their ICT suites? We went for the non-cushioned version: https://www.morleys.co.uk/ict-furniture/ergos-swivel-shell-chair.html Adjustable height, swivels, comes with wheels or glides and in various colours. We're hoping they last better than the last 3 sets of chairs we've gone through in the ICT suite in the last few years. 1
mavhc Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 Office chairs if the kids are behaved, those ones moulded from 1 piece of indestructable plastic if they're not 1
timbo343 Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 (edited) The postura chairs are what we have.. no damages at all. Different colours for different parts / rooms of the school too. https://www.schoolsrus.co.uk/Sebel-Postura-KI-Postura-Plus Swivl chairs are out at our place. The wheels become damaged / go missing. The backs of them break. The foam in the seat gets pulled from the chair. The screws underneath the seat become loose. The raiser / lower gas mechanism breaks so when you sit on them you sink to the lowest position. Edited May 7, 2020 by timbo343 1
3s-gtech Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 We went almost 100% Postura, some other ones managed to still evade the skip too. We’ve had quite a few of them break, they’re confirmed not indestructible. Not bad though. 1
robyholmes Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 We have used skid feet ones which means they can get under the desk but don't damage the floor. We use them lots of rooms now. Stop kids tipping on them well after the first go) and protect the floor. 1
mikeprice Posted May 7, 2020 Posted May 7, 2020 If you are going for chairs with wheels or skids them you need carpet then can stand the wear - otherwise you will have rips and trip hazards all over the place in a year! WHen I was teaching I always found that it helped to have an area for the kids to write and sit at away from the actual computer. Ideally this would have normal chairs - then proper swivel and adjustable kid-proof chairs for the computers This also allows for kids to be given a normal chair if they find it impossible to behave on a swivel chair - the problem being that they are totally different heights a lot of the time!! 1

eddyc Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 We have Titan Swivel Chair in all IT Suites for our students. We castors lock to the floor when you sit on the chair and release when you get off of the chair. https://www.titandirect.co.uk/titan-swivel-chairs 1
