Mrpower Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 (edited) I am having problems with Sharepoint. This could be a problem with sharepoint itself or a Mac working with sharepoint issue I am not sure. At the moment the new head ( the former deputy head) is unable to access a Sharepoint site. They click on a link emailed to them and are greeted with an Authorisation page with outdated "verify your identity" details. We had issues with the office web portal not multi-factor authenticator not sending texts to the correct iPhone / phone number. I fixed this issue today, but the above with Sharepoint has me stumped. I have posted this here, as we run primarily Macs at the school and very few PC's. I was wondering if this is a Mac issue or is it just Sharepoint no playing nicely. Edited April 22, 2020 by Mrpower
john Posted April 22, 2020 Posted April 22, 2020 That is a standard MS Auth that you have attached a photo of you should ensure you fix the MFA in Azure / O365 first and get it so they have the app setup and working first. Once that is working (aka.ms/mfasetup is the quick link for the end user) get them to go to office.com and sign in using the school details and auth if/as required. Once in then try and get into the SharePoint site see what happens this time. You may need to clean out the Keychain of things from Microsoft as well which can help and use a private tab in a browser to help remove cache issues It works fine on Macs we have probably 80 people globally using it daily so its not an incompatability.
Mrpower Posted April 22, 2020 Author Posted April 22, 2020 To fix the "AMFA in Azure / O365 " would this be accessible from the user end or server side? We had the app setup several weeks back, but there was an issue with Teams, which meant that I kept reseting the app and phone number, until it turned out to be an issue with someone else's firewall blocking the app. it's good to know it's not a Mac problem.
Mrpower Posted April 24, 2020 Author Posted April 24, 2020 So far I am waiting on the head. I have ask them to empty their web caches and try the link in another browser than safari.

Depends where the issue is the user should have a valid MFA setup using the app is the prefered method (download MS authenticator from Apple or Google store its free) and set it up. They should do that from the aka.ms link I gave. If they have messed it up then you as an admin need to reset MFA in Azure.
Mrpower Posted April 28, 2020 Author Posted April 28, 2020 (edited) Alas I am not the Admin of that particular system. That is controlled by the local authority. I believe when we has set up the app, ( as well as one can) five or six weeks ago. But as I have already mentioned about an issue with blacklists and white lists and firewalls. I kept setting it up the app multiple times, which might have confused the system. Also the numbers the app was generating where not usable or something was not allowing them to sync with what the server, I guess. It's holly possible that no-one at County thought to check that the app was working, or was going through the firewall OK, as the majority of people seem to use the text message method.
