Aruba 2540 and third-party SFP+ module

We've just purchased 2 Lindy SFP+ modules to upgrade our newly installed Aruba 2540 switches to 10Gbps. However when installing the modules they refuse to establish a link back to our Dell core switch, when installing 2 in the same switch and creating a loop (just for testing and for a very short period) the link establishes just fine. When checking the Aruba UI they appears to only be running at 1000 base (probably not correct wording). Our Dell modules are 10Gbps only and I'm assuming that's why the link fails to come up

When first installed I had to run a command as they aren't "supported", has anyone had any experience of this? If so how did you over come it?

Any help is greatly appreciated

Thanks

Seems you've done everything right, but I think your answer is right in your problem. You don't mention the speed of these SFP+ modules, but if they are not running at 10Gbps, they won't link up with your Dell modules - fibre is very fussy in that regards. When you create the loop and the link comes up, the SFP modules are working as is your patch cord, but you say the Aruba UI only says 1000 base? Then your modules are not 10Gbps rated. Another way to test is to take that switch to your Dell core, pop in one of the Lindy modules if you can and run the patch cable from the Dell to the Aruba. If you get a link on both sides using the Lindy modules, check the speed. You'll probably see that they are only rated for 1Gbps.

Turns out the modules weren't supported by the switch. Swapped them for compatible modules and everything is now working fine
