mattpant Posted April 5, 2020 Posted April 5, 2020 Good Evening All, I've used Salamander SDS successfully a few weeks ago to extract out all our timetabled classes from SIMS and then upload them into SDS to use within Office 365 / Microsoft Teams, this was done prior to the recent SDS changes and so the Teams were created automatically. A number of staff have now requested if it's possible to setup Teams for their form groups so they can keep in touch during the school closure, so I've created a new Sync Profile within SDS (so I know when the files are uploaded, it will only create the groups within Exchange). Within SalamanderSDS I've selected the option "Use Registration Group information" and proceed through the Wizard, the CSV files are created... school.csv - Looks correct section.csv - Looks correct and contains all the registration groups in SIMS student.csv - Looks correct studentEnrollment.csv - Only contains the headings teacher.csv - Looks correct teacherRoster.csv - Only contains the headings So the issue is, because the StudentEnrollment and teacherRoster are not being populated, when the files are uploaded to SDS, the "Sections" are being created, BUT they don't contain the Teacher as the Owner or the students as members because that data hasn't been extracted. Any ideas why? Registration groups are managed within out SIMS via the Pastoral Structure route. I'm hoping this is some sort of bug that can be easily fixed, but if not I'll look at creating a manual report to populate the missing CSV files? What fields in the SIMS database is it looking for for the "ID" for Student/Teacher. I know the Student Number is their Admission Number but with any "zeros" removed from the start, but the "ID" is a different number - what do I need to export that, also the same for the Sections, What is it looking for to get the "ID/Section ID" for the class/form names? Thanks Matt
mattpant Posted April 6, 2020 Author Posted April 6, 2020 Anybody know the fields in pulls out of SIMS to create the CSV files so I can manually have a shot at creating the Form Groups... mainly the ID’s it uses for Student/Staff/Sections Thanks!
mattpant Posted April 6, 2020 Author Posted April 6, 2020 Update - It turns out that this thread was picked up by Salamander and the issue was recognised as a bug. I'd like to say a massive thank you to @jonawd for updating the software and implementing a fix so quickly! Everything works as expected now! Current Release Notes v1.9.5.0 adds the following: Fix to an issue preventing some sites using the Registration Groups extracts Fix to an issue with Integris G2 Support Support for the new Arbor APIs https://www.salamandersoft.co.uk/free-utilities/salamander-for-school-data-sync/ Thank You Matt 3
