Microsoft facepalm.

 

Does this mean Microsoft 365 in its current incarnation will change names..... or will Windows be rolled into this in some way shape or form.

I can see it as part of an overall subscription convergence - how that’d work with Windows would be unclear but possibly on an entry level free tier - like Office 365 has with web apps for personal users - with subscriptions for additional services (like we have for Edu now).

 

It doesn’t make much sense with your Office 365 apps installed becoming your Microsoft 365 apps - far too woolly and confusing.

Seems like they're trying to get rid of the resellers, buy everything from MS, including laptops now.

Office 365 ProPlus is being renamed to Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise beginning 21 April 2020. New name, same great value, same price - no change to your existing subscription.

 

Why is my subscription changing names?

We are renaming Office 365 ProPlus together with the following subscriptions to be more reflective of the current range of features and benefits in each:

 

• Office 365 Business Essentials will become Microsoft 365 Business Basic
  
• Office 365 Business Premium will become Microsoft 365 Business Standard
  
• Microsoft 365 Business will become Microsoft 365 Business Premium
  
• Office 365 Business will become Microsoft 365 Apps for business
  
• Office 365 ProPlus will become Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise
  

How does this affect me?

There are no price or feature changes. The same apps and services are available, only with an updated name. The name of your subscription will automatically update in Microsoft documentation, the Admin center and your monthly billing statements on or after 21 April 2020.

 

What do I need to do to prepare for this change?

After 21 April, you might need to adjust some of your existing workflows because of the name change. For example, if you use an automatic deployment rule (ADR) to deploy updates by using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager. Learn more about all the actions you need to take in this article.

Waiting for announcement of the "Windows 10 Education" SKU rename to "Windows 10 Currently Not In Use" as schools are closed until further notice.

I know this was in regards to business side, but we have a 365 sub in the household (mainly to help with parents stuff, but yeah...) and it seems there's new stuff coming to all subs

 

There's now:

Teams Personal Edition (As in the name)

Microsoft Family Safety (Monitor/manage access across consoles/pcs/phones etc)

 

And ironically, the most interesting one (As least in regards to less work for me yay!):

Technical support for Windows 10, and all Microsoft 365 apps
