Hi guys,

Our teacher's are currently using Teams to deliver remote lessons, however the students appear to have the ability to mute each other and the teacher. Is there a way to combat this, can the option be disabled at all?

Thanks for your help!

MS are also working on a feature so teachers can mute all students and they can’t unmute themselves (which they currently can) until the teacher decides.

By the time this gets sorted we will all be back in....

That can already be done. If you schedule a meeting you can manage their permissions ahead of time.

Mmm interesting, can u send a screenshot of the relevant permission?

Thanks

Click on the three dots to the right of the Team name and select Manage team. You can then mute selected or all students. Do that just before a video call / meeting, then unmute them if you wish afterwards.

I might be mistaken but I don't think students can comment / message when that button is used either. I don't think it's designed for this reason but will give roughly the same effect.
