Does anyone know if there's a way to monitor private chat on student accounts or if eDiscovery will grab them? We have an issue with bullying though it, we don't want to disable private chat as it will be needed for potential remote learning but need an evidence trail should there be any issues?

this is what we ended up doing but it only gave a one way conversation and not who it was sent too.

 

In the end we've decided to disable the chat option for them.

I've had a request to find out what a pupil has posted to some Teams (been deleted since) is this possible to find?

 

Am really struggling to access via e discovery?

Ediscovery should do this for you but might depend on your retention policies.

 

Teams IMs come out as emails when you export them.

I've managed get a little further I can see chats, but I need to see what was posted to a channel in a team. I'll take a closer look tomorrow to see if am over looking that.

I believe you can use content search to find teams chat activity. I would recommend turning off private chat for students but leaving chat on for meetings so teachers can set up a meeting with students that need to collaborate but unmonitored chat will not be allowed.

We've just re enabled chat because it was causing lack of engagement with pupils.

 

We tried using private channels but that is hugely unwieldy.

 

A tiny minority of staff willingly engage in channels and only ALN pupils get a channel by default, well sometimes they do.

 

Staff add a second adult for safeguarding. Pupils can't delete chats.

 

We've had no issues with group chats.

 

There seems to be a huge lack of admin access to a lot of aspects of Teams.
