Hi

I have been requested about the possibility of turning off key word search for 6th formers.

At the moment, we are whitelisting blocked words manually that we deem false positive but mindful of turning it off, although it is a bit of a pain when it blocks words that are related to history / bology

What do you think? Have been told without the above filter we are trusting Google Image safe-search.

Many thanks!

You can turn it off under system \ advanced but I think you're still at the mercy of SBB (I could be wrong), you can add words to allow yourself though (maybe)

I asked the question and got this response

This is to ensure that we can pick up as much as possible, the filtering will lean on the side of caution with the categorisation of searches to make sure safeguarding standards are met as we can add exceptions quite easily when they arise.

Correct me if i'm wrong of course

Good Evening Mr Wu,

We run two different keyword lists, a master list that is applied by default to all users and a primary school list - both of which have been built over the years based on feedback from schools.

A school can of course choose to adjust the filtering based on their specific requirements so there is no problem disabling the keyword filtering. As long as you have a dedicated filtering group for your 6th formers we can just disable it for those users, or as caffrey stated you can allow words that are causing false positives within the local lists within your policies. If you are struggling just drop me a PM.

Hope that clears things up,

Thanks,
