It also depends on what you want the DPO to do, how hands on they are for all activities or whether you need them to support the building of the right culture in the school ... or both.

We don't need them to be very hands on but we would like them to check that we are complying with the necessary requirements. We would probably also want them to be a source of advice when needed.

Consider Judicium. The way it works here is I do the leg work and training. The Business Manager provides the clout, and Judiciuim are(*) the DPO who over see our work and report to governors.

 

 

(to be specific, a named lawyer in Judicium is the DPO, but we mostly engage with their team)
