Getting XP on a vista pre installed laptop

Ok this has taken up 10mins of my time already and I'm stumped.

 

Trying to get XP on a new laptop that has vista on it. XP install says it cant see and hard disks as its got a sata controller. Cool press F6 to install some drivers, errr no floppy drive :/

 

Is there an easy way of downgrading to XP?

You can use either a USB Floppy disk, or disable SATA native mode in the BIOS.

 

A bit more info would help - Make and Model?

You need to disable AHCI in the BIOS if possible, look for option like AHCI or SATA Mode AHCI/Enhanced/IDE/Compatability

 

Where possible disbale AHCI and switch any SATA mode options to compatible or IDE.

Thanks changing the ACPI mode to IDE worked.
