omextemplates.content.office.net bandwidth

I know this has been mentioned a while ago in a different thread but just wondering if anyone else has had an issue with a large amount of bandwidth being hogged by omextemplates.content.office.net?

 

Looking at our smoothwall box it is downloading GB's per day. I can block it but this has a knock on effect to downloading Office templates etc?

 

Anyone come across this issue before?

Yup.

 

It's a big bandwidth consumer. I did make some changes in GP to reduce the amount that it hits, but when it was combined with the Akamai CDNs for things like app updates and 'content' it was brutal - the latter got firewalled down to kb/s.

Yep, we block it and bring the bandwidth right down to kill 2 birds with one stone. All it is doing is pulling the templates down from Office.
