  6. The only way I know of to mute chat for a student in a meeting to get this message is by going to the Team in question, clicking 'Manage Team', then under 'Members and guests' you will see a tickbox called 'Mute students' where you can select all or individual students. I've found that if the student is already in the meeting though it only takes effect if they re-enter the meeting or click on something in Teams and then go back to the meeting screen.
  7. To be honest I've not tried testing multiple streams at once as I thought it unlikely we would need that but I plan to try and finish the project just before Christmas so will try and test that out if I get a chance.
  8. @speakercon Hi, yes we eventually went ahead with BellCommander but used CyberData multicast IP speakers in the end. I've still got to add a few more speakers to give full coverage (it's been on hold since lockdown) but due to covid and the timetable being all over the place there has not been a need for a school bell due to the amount of lesson overlapping lesson changeovers due to year bubbles it would be going off every 30 minutes or so. It therefore hasn't had an actual proper test yet but hoping to give it a full test just before christmas while no-one is here.
  9. Thanks for the replies everyone. Stupidly I didn't realise you can just bulk select emails and print to one big PDF! We have Adobe Acrobat Pro so can easily redact with that. @Bev you should just be able to open a PST from the outlook client, File - Open & Export - Open Outlook Data File
  10. Yes we used school cloud/parentseveningsoftware for the first time last week for Y13 parents evening. I decided to stick around after finishing work just in case any support calls came in as most staff stayed in school to do it.....I had exactly no calls or emails for the entire parents evening. It worked perfectly, to the point I ended up wandering round school to find teachers to see how they were getting on with it. Teachers loved it (partly due to the fact you it’s a set time limit per meeting) and early feedback is parents liked it too as a lot easier for them. Strongly suspect we’ll continue to use going forwards. A bit of work to do firewall side but the council does this for us and were very obliging.
  11. Hi, I've had my first parent SAR for effectively any staff emails containing a student name. I've figured out how to extract all this to a PST but for the date range they've requested it's around 500 emails. They have to be checked/redacted etc but how have people been subsequently giving this information to parents? Have you printed them all off or given them an electronic copy? If electronic how would they easily be able to open them?
  12. Out of curiosity what did you have to do to prevent this issue? We’ve been struggling with bandwidth hogging issues which appears to be coming from windows itself.
  13. We had the whole of Office 365 (outlook, teams etc) pretty much grind to a halt yesterday morning and bandwidth usage was fine, outlook still operating slow this morning for us. Assuming it has been a problem at Microsoft's end.

    Staff Laptops

We are planning to have them domain joined with cached credentials. They will be hybrid joined so will be SSO for Microsoft services and using a User AlwaysOnVPN with 2FA to access network resources. Tested using a device based AlwaysOnVPN which worked really well but I wasn’t happy to give access to the network with just a username and password.

    Staff Laptops

Hi all. Just to say thanks for the posts and to provide an update in case anyone is interested. We finally opted to go with the HP ProBook 440 G7 in the end as we thought this provided the best balance of cost and feel of quality. Only time will tell of course so fingers crossed! They will purely be for non-teaching use to begin with but we will then trial using them for teaching with sometime in the new academic year, the laptops have USB C charging capability so have tested with a USB C dock and in principle seems to work well....

    Dell/Lenovo Laptops

Hi, thanks for the input everyone. Just to update we went with the HP ProBook 440 G7 in the end as although a bit more expensive we felt it was the best quality for the money. Here's hoping that proves to be the case!
  17. Sorry just re-read your message, your referring to outlook calendar showing in teams calendar if I read correctly. That said I’ve just checked a test student account and created an event in outlook and it pulled through to teams calendar straight away.
  18. Same here, I’m positive teams meetings show for both staff and students in their outlook calendars. It did this by default for us.
  19. I'm currently gathering quotes for a fair few staff laptops (new), I have quotes for HP and Toshiba from my usual contact but would like a quote for Dell and possibly Lenovo as well. Having done this job for quite a few years I probably should know the answer to this but do Dell only sell direct or do people go through a re-seller for new Dell kit? Any recommendations?

    Staff Laptops

Thanks for the input everyone. To be honest the leadership here are very good at consulting me on IT matters so still very much in the discussion phase at the moment although I think it will happen. I've always preferred desktops in the classrooms but just trying to persuade them if they go this route that we need a longer term plan and that the sensible option (well from my point of view anyway) is to longer term replace the teacher desktops with the laptops. I know this a hot topic and divides opinion but both methods have there pros and cons but having both is an untenable solution in terms of cost. Purely thinking ahead I'm thinking laptops with USB C charging and then a USB C docking station/connector with a USB C power adaptor already attached in each classroom so just one cable for the teacher to connect and will be powered at the same time seems the way forward. Does anyone use this kind of setup?
  21. Yes we use both inventry and Paxton net2 with 1k mifare cards. Only issue we had was with inventry as we use the ID card number in decimal format for our systems and inventry by default scanned in hexadecimal format but they got the scanners re-programmed for us. You’ll need the mifare readers for Paxton though as I believe they are different to the dedicated Paxton card readers.
  22. After a bit of research I recently purchased a Logitech Meetup for our conference room. Got fed up of making do with the old webcams we have had for years and head so go for it. Not cheap but so far well worth the money with all the group conferences the SLT are having now. Wide angle view and integrated speaker is excellent and gives flexibility of moving around different rooms if needed.

    Staff Laptops

Hi, just been informed by the head that the governors have agreed to provide funding for potentially all staff to have a laptop (could be anywhere from 40 to 100!). Not entirely sure where the money has been found but certainly not out of my budget. I've got a whole list of questions that I want answering when I have a meeting with the head next week which I won't go into now but just trying to gather advice on what other people do here in terms of purchasing staff laptops as not something I've had to do on such a scale. We have staff desktops in all classrooms and no plans for this to change to my knowledge. Currently the SLT have laptops so only about 10 in school. We don't lease any devices other than MFD's but was curious to know what others do that have staff laptops in these kind of numbers? Putting aside the extra time etc that will be needed to deploy and support these laptops can anyone offer any advice on whether you would lease or purchase outright? Thanks.
  24. Thanks, so just to clarify you have the Intune for EDU standalone faculty licence added to your EES using your FTE and don't pay per faculty user per month? We won't need a licence for every member of the FTE so just trying to figure this out.
  25. Hi. I seem to be getting myself mighty confused with Intune licencing at the moment. Can anyone tell me if the Intune for Education licence actually includes access to the full Intune console as a few articles I've read online seem to indicate that you do have access to all the settings the full console offers but with the addition of the simplified education console for those that want to use that? Also for licencing I've been quoted a figure of around 70p per staff member per month which includes 15 student licences. This is going through our EES licence but as I understand it isn't done on FTE count, rather on how many staff licences I request. Does that sound correct as this has got me going round in circles! (I understand it is also included in the EMS A3 licence but we don't have this). Thanks.
