RM Easylink running on Vista? Forest root issues!

I am trying to set up or rather did just set up Easylink on CC3. My school have never used it (not sure why that is)

Anyway I have just found out that for Vista users to access it I need to have it installed on a CC3 forest root with Windows 2003 installed on it.

My problem being my forest root is 2000. I do have a further CC3 server on Win 2003.

So I am trying to see if I can change that to be the forest root or will I need to get my original forest root upgraded just because of those bothersome Vista users?

Not entirely true, reggiep. We have EasyLink running on our Win2k FRDC and some Vista clients can access it - note, only some though. I get it running exactly as it does on XP, web folders and everything, although other people have issues, so I'm wondering if it's a firewall question. Even those who don't get the web folders do get the FTP view of the folders, so they can download files over EasyLink and work on them, they just can't save the amended copy back.

I've got CC3 with Server 2003 and am still having problems trying to access Easylink with Vista. RM told me to take off one of the Windows updates, which I did - but still no luck. It's now in the hands of RM - and I'm still waiting to hear back from them!....a week later!

Vista and Easylink just dont want to mix really. i've tried many different things and workarounds and still cant get it to work, so i've taken to running virtual pc with a xp image to access it from home.

 

Its all to do with Vista not supporting Webfolders.

Hi

We have the same problem with 'Vista and IE7'.

From my experience, for what its worth, it appears that if you use xp with an upgraded IE6 to IE7 there is no problem and all works fine.

The vista version of IE7 does not work, there must be some difference somewhere.

It doesn't matter whether or not you have office 2003 or 2007 it's still the same result.

I have searched the internet over and over but no one can resolve this issue, even RM are stumped, we have had a support call registered with RM for this for at least 6months.

All they seem to be interested int at the moment is pushing CC4.

If anyone has a resolve, fantatsic please let me know

Thats the way I have got around it, but still doesn't help the teachers unless they know how to use VPc..

Give the instructions at EasyLink - Help - Windows Vista a spin and see how you get on. It has worked for a number of Vista users here... Edited October 20, 2008 by enjay

Followed your instrauctions and guess what it works. Thanks for all your help

 

I need to now pass this on to the teachers so they can modify there setting.

 

Still I think the inherent problem is Vista and not IE7

Good print out, do you have any idea if it will run on CC4 as well?? Will give it go and see how it runs.

Does anyone know if there is an official CC4 server patch for this yet??
