Google Chrome not able to be open when logged on elsewhere

Has anyone come across an issue with Google Chrome where if you are logged on to a PC in one location, locked it, and then logged on elsewhere it loads up completely black or not at all.

 

I've looked around and found that it is the GPUCache folder causing the issue and once it is deleted and Chrome re-opens it is fine in the second location. However once you try again on the original machine, you get the same problem again.

 

Disabling hardware acceleration is a way to stop that folder and the files inside from being created, however, after disabling it, it still creates the folder and files.

 

Has anyone had the same problem and knows a way to fix this.

All the data the Chrome creates goes straight into the user's home drive.

 

It used to be stored directly into the H drive but we have now redirected it so it all goes into a folder called Google.

i think thats your problem you have 2 copies of chrome trying to write to the same place.

Yes we realised that was the issue but we don't know how to resolve it.

We've always been of the mind set that you can't have 2 instances of Chrome open on 2 PCs due to the way it read/writes files.

 

Fix

A) Why are you even logged into two places

2) Use IE

iii)Go logout of the other PC like you should of in the 1st place.

realistically the options are make chrome write its stuff to a local location like appdata or have multiple shortcuts for chrome i think you can set its data dir in a switch so one shortcut goes to h:\chrome\1 and another to h:\chrome\2

 

looks like the switch is [TABLE=class: overview-table, width: 938]

We tell them not to be logged into two places. It's only SLT we have the problem with as they do stuff in the office, then go teach and come back. We didn't have this with Win 7, only now with Win 10.

Yes we realised that was the issue but we don't know how to resolve it.

The method I use to avoid the issue you are having is to keep the user data directory local (by not configuring the setting in Group Policy), enable the creation of roaming copies for the Chrome profile data and then use UE-V to copy the roaming profile.pb file from %AppData%\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default to the user's home directory.
